The primary issuer of visas and residency services in the UAE is the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs (GDRFA). Because I employed this method myself, I may honestly inform you that it is quick and efficient.
Visit the official GDRFA website
- Go to https://www.gdrfad.gov.ae.

Log in with your UAE Pass
- In case you do not have a UAE Pass, I suggest you make one, as it facilitates the process.
Go to Visa Services
- Cancel Residency Visa – Select Services – Visa Services.

Go to cancel the residence visa
Log in to the cancel resident visa section and choose the option of Start services.

Enter detail
You must give such information as:
- Passport number
- Visa number
- Residency file number
Upload the following Documents
Post the following documents:
- Employee passport copy
- Emirates ID copy
- MOHRE (where necessary) labor card cancellation.
Pay the Fee
- Pay the Cancellation Fee
- The fee is usually AED 100–200.
- You can immediately download the cancellation receipt once the Application is submitted.
Personally, I would suggest this approach due to its indirectness, the use of the Internet, and the lack of a necessity to go to any office.
Method 2: Cancel Employment Visa via the ICP Website
The ICP portal deals with federal-level visa and residency services, as well as employment visa cancellations.
Step 1: Visit the ICP Official Website
Go to https://smartservices.icp.gov.ae/.

Step 2: Log in to Your Account
Access your account using your UAE Pass.
Step 3: Navigate to Visa Services
- Click on “Residency Services”.
- Select “Cancel Employment Visa”.

Step 4: Enter Employee Details
- Provide the passport number of the employee.
- Enter the residency visa number if required.

Visit the Amer Website
- Go to https://amercenter.ae

Choose Residency Cancellation Service
- Go to the services, and then click on AMER SERVICES.

- Make a Scroll down and click on Visa Cancellation.

Log in Using UAE Pass
- The system is based on either the UAE Pass or a login you sponsor.
Upload Documents
Attach all of the following documents that are provided below:
- Passport copy
- Emirates ID copy
- Cancellation of the labor card.
Submit the Request
- Once submitted, you shall be sent a confirmation receipt.

Method 4: Apply Through the MOHRE Website
The other significant channel is the MOHRE, since it deals with the Cancellation of employment visa services. You can cancel your work permit here before you cancel your residency.
